There isn’t a perceived necessity for architecture. The art of building has been implemented for as long as mankind has existed. The necessity for architecture cannot be quantified, nor qualified with a slew of words. What is sought is a beauty, a perfection that is readily understood and valued by anybody, any era. The only inextricable reference the beautiful process should present is the date it was created. An exhibition of the very best materials, technique, tradesmen, and design minds of the moment. Each project shall be a progression into the previously existing reality, never digressing, reaching closer and closer to an essential form.

The Architect, 2013

The architect acts as the filter. Sacrificing their personal desires for the perfect realization of the building. They must have enabled in them a perception of the desires of the countless aspects, from client to contractor, from circulation to structure, that come together to create the project. Once they are well versed in these desires, others can begin to trust the designer. Trust is essential for the beautiful process as it ensures each piece their purpose in creating for the whole. Without the filter, machinist economy of construction wins, as only the calculable requirements are envisioned. Therefore, the architect is forever necessary to bring about beauty in building design that transcends
logic.
