During my time at HELT, I did prototypical and non-prototypical design. This project was for a shell building with Starbucks as the tenant in the City of Gallup. We were tasked with being the Architect of Record.

The prototype design had some issues with the local zoning of the town. The roof top units needed more screening, so I proposed raising the parapet to be consistent around the building, they previously only had it raised around the drive through window. This led to a change in the prototype design going forward. I also had to pick a more appropriate tinted glass due to the hot and sunny environment in New Mexico.

Once the Construction Documents were done, we coordinated permitting with the city.

Prototype designs such as this offer an opportunity to improve our standards and procedures of working efficiently. Working primarily in Revit made revisions and client changes much smoother.
